Serge Daney -- Representing the Ignorance of the Public
Strangely, after Wim dropped in, who should ask to borrow a cigarette but Serge Daney himself. Since old D.B. knows better than to smoke, he offered a match instead in exchange for a few words of wisdom:
"The media no longer ask those who know something . . . to share that knowledge with the public. Instead they ask those who know nothing to represent the ignorance of the public and, in so doing, to legitimate it."
Again be warned: Dead Beat urges you, in your writing, not to be a representative of ignorance.
