Inviting Bukowski Over
The problem with inviting Bukowski over (see And the Moon and the Stars and the World) is that it leaves you with a heavy head the next morning, but your heart sure feels good .
Thing is Bukowski got it right and Bukowski got it wrong, but when he got it right he invited the infinite in (see Thinking the Unthinkable). His work grows from the specifics of his life and takes us into higher ground. We don’t have to have lived the life he did to know what he is talking about.
In fact let Dead Beat tell you, we do in fact live the same life except that the specifics are different. Forget the cult of Bukowski for the moment, remember his words.
